Scrapper's Crave

Its been a long and hard week... I'm thankful and happy for tomorrow! 1st August marks a very special day in my life. But in happiness, many a times, I reflect on sadder days in my life... I wonder how many people out there enjoy scrapbooking about their not so good moments in life as much as their happier ones... I believe that some sad days are worth remembering... I believe that it doesn't matter if the memory is a good or bad one... rather the fact that you remember it... that says alot... that it did leave an impact on you...and it did somewhat help you grow as a person. And documenting something like that...can be healthy.

Here's a layout I did some time ago... its a reflection on sadder times in my life... after my father's passing.

I would love to see others contribute to my site... and so I extend an invitation for anyone who would like to share layouts or other interesting projects about darker moments in their lives... and if We like what we see... you're walking away with a RAK!
We will also feature your submissions on our blog. Deadline 31st august.

'I've got the blues' RAK
The RAK will be made up of Prima flower embellishments, mini buttons, fabric ribbon, a die cut from Prima Voila, a cardstock and 3 patterned papers!

Till then... go ahead... Scrap to your heart's desires...

Do you read books on scrapbooking? What's your favourite book... I like Tim Holtz's 'Distressables 2', 'Designing with Color' featuring the artists from Autumn leaves and magazines like Scrapbooks etc. Books can be expensive...and if you're on a budget, what you can do is have a group of friends who share the same hobby...and you can share your books and magazines with each other...and rotate on say, a monthly basis...or simply just go on the net and research as much as you can... I think many of us enjoy the accessibility of information on the internet...

Another thing I'd like to do is keep a journal... where you can record colour schemes that catches your eyes when you browse through online galleries, or jot down techniques that you have not tried, or even unique things you've found others doing, that you can add to a page, such as fabrics, or staples. Store thoughts in your journal...or even a song that reminds you of an event... it sure keeps me a little more organized... and if you don't carry a notebook and pen wherever you go...just store it all in your handphone... or whatever else they have these days... I also like window shopping... I keep a look out for designs, materials and colours of bags, shoes, clothings, books, notebooks... you'll never know how and when something...anything might inspire your next project.

I would like to share 2 good links with you...whenever I get a little jaded....rest assured they help me get back on track....and I hope you will find new inspirations and ideas there too

I love these items seen at the Children Little Museum... there were many familiar things from my past and my parent's past... the guided tour I took last 2 years awed me as I looked at toys as far back from the 1940's....

You know, Vintage Vignette had a challenge some weeks ago... which kept me thinking, what Vintage really means... there can be a whole lot of interpretations...

To me, Vintage is reconnecting...to a different space and time... through finer things in life...that we missed because we were not born in that age and era...or that time has made us lose all these precious things along the way... it is related to the human part of us that sometimes wonder and yearn to know its past, history... secrets.

Okay... for quite some time now...my Saturdays have been at home...finishing all the work I have...now I'm tired... and I'm going to have some rest... I may be even scrapping tonight!

So what are you waiting for... go ahead... scrap to your heart's desires... have a wonderful weekend. Or at least what's left of it...

So we all can agree flowers on any layout or project add wonders...
and now there's so many ways you can make your own flowers... from patterned papers with flowers, from die cuts, ribbons, and scrap pieces of papers! Which is going to save your pocket... and help in recycling those bits of papers that you don't quite know what to do with them anymore...

And what about flowers as an inspiration in your daily life?
Being one of nature's wonders...it must have the slightest impact on you...

Over the past few weeks, I had come across some beautiful findings...

My next project is nature inspired too... subject matter- Swans. I've been taking a lot of pictures of the Swans at the Botanic Gardens whenever I drop by to feed them... the fishes and the tortoises...(even the birds come to visit...its pure great fun...and relaxing) so we'll see how that one turns out...

Recently, I met up with some close friends...it had been a long time since all of us got together...and you know how it is juggling work, studies, and family matters...it really felt as if it is almost impossible to have all four of us together! it was a suprise birthday celebration thrown for one of them... and her beau wanted a book just of his thoughts on her moments... so I had help him out with it...

I am really grateful for the gathering... its always wonderful to fill each other in on the details of life... :)

P.S : HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BIRTHDAY DEAR.

I've been feeling under the weather lately... and putting unnecessary stress on myself (all the time) is not helping!
I've never been a 'scrap when I'm happy person'... I do better when I'm stressed out.
So, I'm pleased and grateful with the orders that came in this month... including a wedding guestbook!
it means that I have a healthy place to channel all my thoughts into...

By the way, I stopped by the "Children Little Museum' along Arab st last Friday... here are some pictures.

The sudden surge of ideas sprunge out of no where... here I had a plastic cup sitting on the cupboard of my room for some time, along with other recyclable materials...

I started not knowing what the end product would be like... or what I could use it for... but my smart* sister gave me a brilliant idea... using it as a potpourri holder...

Well, I altered this ordinary plastic cup... for some reason I decided to overturn it and looking through my scrap pieces of papers and embellishments, I went on a vintage journey of my own... I had this small photograph of my eyes that Ive been wanting to use for the longest time...but never had the chance to so it did me some good here.

I wanted to have a vintage flair to it...so here goes... Presenting....
