Scrapper's Crave

I think I have alot to be thankful for...
There are other people out there, who are struggling and suffering in many ways... I remember very vividly when We were battling my father's cancer... it was the hardest times in my life... the cruelest times... and it really woke me up... the best things in life... are really being safe and sound with your family and loved ones... and nothing can compare to that.
EVER.

When I think about this year... I think about how much I have grown as a person. And I am blessed to have many learning opportunities... in many ways... My hope for 2010 is simple. To always remember how lucky and blessed I am. To stay grounded as a person.

And of course... I hope I can explore and experiment with more mediums and colours. I leave you all with this layout... This is to remind me of my scrapping journey in 2009.

This is the Christmas present I made for a very good neighbour of ours...
I placed it on a stand... so that she can choose to either place it on the cupboard at her doorway... or use it as a door hanger....

Its Mid week... 12/23/2009

It's mid week... A part of me can't wait for work to start... In the meantime, I have been working on two projects... one, a gift for my aunt, another a Christmas gift for my neighbour...

I dropped by MWL yesterday... it was 6pm and it was crazy crowded... I guess there were alot of people dropping by after work... I also made my way to Spotlight to get some craft ideas... stumbled upon this lovely heart door hanger in wood... it comes in a few shapes... together with other wooden products... kind of like the ones you can find at Art Friend...
It's pretty neat... there's so many possibilities with this one...

Wooden door hanger at $1.95
Another wonderful finding is a beautiful place mat at $0.50 at the market the other day! Good to use when I am working with messy things like paint and inks... it can act as a craft sheet... as far as heat is not concerned.

Here's a sneak peak at 2 different layouts I did recently...
One's Colourful and the other's a little Vintage....

Precious Week... 12/22/2009

Here it is...
"Live slow, Love life"... To make the accents sort of pop out, I used a toothpick to roll the edges of the leaves out, and the acorn and eggs in... the nest at the corner, is made from recycled ribbon packaging, from 7gypsies... curled into a ball and attached to the layout using glue dots...

Its the weekend! 12/19/2009

What a great day it was...
A friend came to visit today and learn how to scrapbook... all in all it was enjoyable and quite exciting... *grin*
and yes... the thought of the money spent on all the materials kept returning back...

I guess all scrappers agree... its hard to put a stop to this hobby, even though (many a times) cost is an issue...

Anyway, Thought I should post the beautiful moments here... I must say she did great! Love how she created a shadow for her flower embellishment using brown cardstock!

And a quick sharing... I made a flower last week from a tutorial featured on Cindy's Blog... still need alot of practice... its too high to get it on a layout... so I placed this one into a glass and sprayed lots of my fav Cranberry room spray from the Bodyshop on it... now its an air freshener!

I did my first canvas layout last night...
After being inspired by good scrappers like Aida, Geraldine and Leena, I took it all in...and thought I should give it a try... moreover... the fact that I couldn't make it to Leena's Canvas Madness class made me a little sad... so I thought I might as well just experiment and see how it goes...
Picture
It was indeed very tough  working on the canvas... it was just so different from cardstock and paper... The mediums used such as acrylic paints, inks and mists did not always come out the way you expect it to.... and it took some time for everything to merry with one another... I also worked with Hambly screen prints... cause I liked how Leena incorporated this into her canvas layout.

For this photograph, I thought I'd work with monochromatic colours... I hope I pulled it off...
