Scrapper's Crave

I received a pink rose from my sister the other day,and it was such a sweet gesture... you know, when you really look at a rose and observe its beauty...you will be in awe... for a rose, even in its death is beautiful... I took photos of it as it withered... and dried in the sun...

I always thought roses are magical... especially after watching 'The Cave of the Golden Rose' as a child... it was aired in the early 90's...I loved Fantaghiro's charm... she always had to come across as a strong and courageous woman... but really, she too had her moments... most of all I love the theme song... Mio Nemico (my enemy)...Hope you enjoy the link below... and oh yes... I love the clothes they wore too...

The ladies at Vintage Flair are getting their scrap on.... and this September we will embark on a series of challenges that we hope will be encouraging and inspiring to all...

I'm just about done with my first layout for my challenge...

Last weekend, my mother took me to a second hand shop, off Benoi Sector, tucked away in a little corner of a quiet street.
From first glance, you would think it's pretty run down and a little suspicious... but I found out that it was really worth a second look as there were some interesting finds... awaiting to inspire!

And so it was a beautiful Saturday... bright and sunny... we were all set for a picnic at the Botanic gardens... I was really excited... and when we reached we got to know there was a little exhibition going on... it was on the Evolution theories proposed by Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace... I love the display so took some pictures of them...

We then went to find a good shady spot where we could enjoy our lunch and drink our yogurt drinks, rest and talk about life...  away from the bustling city... it had been quite some time since I had a Saturday out from home... I always felt Botanic Gardens is a magical place... something so beautiful about being around nature... among many...we caught a sight of a wood pecker... amazing... it really was a wood pecker... we caught it on video though...so no pictures for that... but there is a picture of a cute squirrel minding its own little business...

Do you read books on scrapbooking? What's your favourite book... I like Tim Holtz's 'Distressables 2', 'Designing with Color' featuring the artists from Autumn leaves and magazines like Scrapbooks etc. Books can be expensive...and if you're on a budget, what you can do is have a group of friends who share the same hobby...and you can share your books and magazines with each other...and rotate on say, a monthly basis...or simply just go on the net and research as much as you can... I think many of us enjoy the accessibility of information on the internet...

Another thing I'd like to do is keep a journal... where you can record colour schemes that catches your eyes when you browse through online galleries, or jot down techniques that you have not tried, or even unique things you've found others doing, that you can add to a page, such as fabrics, or staples. Store thoughts in your journal...or even a song that reminds you of an event... it sure keeps me a little more organized... and if you don't carry a notebook and pen wherever you go...just store it all in your handphone... or whatever else they have these days... I also like window shopping... I keep a look out for designs, materials and colours of bags, shoes, clothings, books, notebooks... you'll never know how and when something...anything might inspire your next project.

I would like to share 2 good links with you...whenever I get a little jaded....rest assured they help me get back on track....and I hope you will find new inspirations and ideas there too

I love these items seen at the Children Little Museum... there were many familiar things from my past and my parent's past... the guided tour I took last 2 years awed me as I looked at toys as far back from the 1940's....

You know, Vintage Vignette had a challenge some weeks ago... which kept me thinking, what Vintage really means... there can be a whole lot of interpretations...

To me, Vintage is reconnecting...to a different space and time... through finer things in life...that we missed because we were not born in that age and era...or that time has made us lose all these precious things along the way... it is related to the human part of us that sometimes wonder and yearn to know its past, history... secrets.

Okay... for quite some time now...my Saturdays have been at home...finishing all the work I have...now I'm tired... and I'm going to have some rest... I may be even scrapping tonight!

So what are you waiting for... go ahead... scrap to your heart's desires... have a wonderful weekend. Or at least what's left of it...

So we all can agree flowers on any layout or project add wonders...
and now there's so many ways you can make your own flowers... from patterned papers with flowers, from die cuts, ribbons, and scrap pieces of papers! Which is going to save your pocket... and help in recycling those bits of papers that you don't quite know what to do with them anymore...

And what about flowers as an inspiration in your daily life?
Being one of nature's wonders...it must have the slightest impact on you...

Over the past few weeks, I had come across some beautiful findings...

and a real good book you must read...
My next project is nature inspired too... subject matter- Swans. I've been taking a lot of pictures of the Swans at the Botanic Gardens whenever I drop by to feed them... the fishes and the tortoises...(even the birds come to visit...its pure great fun...and relaxing) so we'll see how that one turns out...

Have you seen the new CHA Summer 2009 collections???
Check them out here...

After looking at them... I know you want to scrap to your heart's desires... *big grin*

I've been feeling under the weather lately... and putting unnecessary stress on myself (all the time) is not helping!
I've never been a 'scrap when I'm happy person'... I do better when I'm stressed out.
So, I'm pleased and grateful with the orders that came in this month... including a wedding guestbook!
it means that I have a healthy place to channel all my thoughts into...

By the way, I stopped by the "Children Little Museum' along Arab st last Friday... here are some pictures.
