Scrapper's Crave

I did my first canvas layout last night...
After being inspired by good scrappers like Aida, Geraldine and Leena, I took it all in...and thought I should give it a try... moreover... the fact that I couldn't make it to Leena's Canvas Madness class made me a little sad... so I thought I might as well just experiment and see how it goes...
Picture
It was indeed very tough  working on the canvas... it was just so different from cardstock and paper... The mediums used such as acrylic paints, inks and mists did not always come out the way you expect it to.... and it took some time for everything to merry with one another... I also worked with Hambly screen prints... cause I liked how Leena incorporated this into her canvas layout.

For this photograph, I thought I'd work with monochromatic colours... I hope I pulled it off...

Blessed... 12/09/2009

Many good tidings this month...and there's so much to be thankful for....

Thanks to everyone who has been behind me... supporting me, and encouraging me.

To add on...I was doing my weekly checks on laine's, mwl, and papermarket websites... and guess what I found...
my layout being featured for Ed's 6x12" challenge! That was a wonderful suprise...

Here's a layout of my mother in her early 20's at Cameron Highlands... one of the many beautiful pictures my father took of her... He loved photography... and used to learn from his Uncle who was a journalist then...though He never lived to be a photographer, the photos he took touched my life in many ways...it was a great escape... in times when I miss him... it was an insight to the life I will never experience.

Tomorrow I will take more pictures of the kite flying adventures this week... and beautiful Sunny picnic (I hope!)
That's midweek for me...
Till then, Scrap to your heart's desires...

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon... I wanted to go out... but the weather these few days had kept me at home... I then browsed through some of the scrapbooking books I borrowed from a good friend...  I was attracted to the pages that suggested colour schemes for black and white pictures... It had been quite some time since I did a layout with a black and white picture...

I went to get some photographs developed...at the nearest photoshop...and Oh it was such a ripoff... $1 per photo!!! but due to my desperation... I went ahead with it... I like going to Harvey Norman's Photo Centre best... cause it just costs me 35c per 4r photo and its of good quality...unlike other machines... which prints pictures that fade or tear easily within months...

I then got down to do some work.... finally...really really using my table and not the floor ... Here's the layout...

Vintage Love 10/11/2009

I am now so in love with the Making Memories Vintage findings... I got myself a few things from their range from Laine's last weekend.

I got so inspired looking through all the beautiful layouts and projects from Vintage Flair and off other blogs.... that I decided to scrapbook this wedding photograph of my parents.
Picture
And by the way, I had a go at using my glimmer mist... To add a layer to the background.... I find mists a little messy at times... so I really need to play around with it more... I used the leftover grungeboard as a stencil...
Picture
I had a chipboard frame which I painted in acrylic Chocolate paint, followed by a good coat of crackle accents. It cracked beautifully! I then used a paper doily to accompany the frame and photograph, and just lightly distress its edges. Afterwards, I added Tim Holtz grungeboard and distressed it in Walnut stain, then coat with distress stickles in Vintage photo, and Kaiserkraft pearls in Chocolate.

To their timeless love story...

I've been so busy but still squeezing in between time to scrapbook my stress away...

I am making a book from the Zig Zag Naked Book from 7gypsies based on pictures from my Botanic Gardens visit.... Its a collaboration of vintage and modern... you see that in the colours and materials I use... It was very challenging to do... cause I was finding it difficult to create a balance from both worlds.... This is a sneak peek...
